How a startup is revolutionizing learning languages
Remember being excited to learn a new language as a kid, and then slowly having that being transformed into disappointment because the school classes never delivered the right atmosphere to grasp the language?
After months of research, evaluation of studies, and analysing data, instrucko found the perfect spell to make sure the child picks up on the language. It’s easy, it’s fun, and it’s interactive. Take a look at instrucko’s ingredients for its spell:
STORYTELLING
instrucko decided to create a new template for teaching language. Rather than the structured method of learning we decided to get creative and use storytelling as a way of teaching. Stories are something precious to each child. It is their first introduction to the world of imagination, and possibly, even learning that imagination is unlimited. Stories take you to a place where there is no such thing as ‘impossible’. Research showed that when you hear a story, it stays with you longer than a fact would.
Stories turned out to be the perfect blend for a child not just to learn a new language but, also to hone their creativity, and enhance critical thinking and emotional intelligence.
INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION
A lesson doesn’t have more than 3 students. Again, everything has been founded based on research and data analysis. This to ensure that each child is given individual attention. A small class also makes the child feel comfortable and secure to voice out its problems or difficulties in learning. They tend to be more open to ask questions and don’t feel the pressure of being judged by fellow peers. It also helps the teacher focus on each student and get to know them personally. It helps in creating a comfortable atmosphere for both the student and the teacher to thrive in.
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
One of the biggest reasons for choosing storytelling as a method for teaching is the fact that it helps in the growth of emotional intelligence. In a world that is slowly being consumed by screens, and human interaction is now heavily based on comments and likes, it has become imperative, now more than ever, for emotional intelligence to be taught. It has been found that stories invoke empathy in the child and help them to relate to other situations more. They start to develop a better understanding of others as well as situations. They learn how to observe without reacting and think pragmatically. This helps them be confident and take responsible decisions for their lives.
INTERACTION
instrucko classes are extremely interactive. Because the goal is to learn a language the student is encouraged to speak in that language. Instead of giving one-word answers, students are encouraged to speak in full sentences with the teacher. This gives them the confidence to speak in the language and also increases fluency. Language is all about practice, the more you interact in it, the more you will learn it and pick it up.
NO GRADES
One of the most important things is that instrucko is not score based. That means your child does not have to feel guilty for not getting good grades. There is no pressure for the child to perform, and most of all there is no comparison between children neither any competition. It is a healthy environment focused on building emotional intelligence, empathy, and comradeship. Studies have found that a child who is pressured to perform is prone to develop depression and anxiety as well as low self-esteem. At instrucko the aim is to help raise a child who is emotionally intelligent and confident.
It is said that a child’s mind is like a sponge- it absorbs everything it interacts with, and the information absorbed at a young age is what stays with them for life. When a child is taught a language at a young age, it is unlikely that they will forget it. Language is the first barrier to break when getting to know other cultures. It is also the first bridge between humans, and that’s exactly what instrucko is doing – being the bridge for your child to cross over to get to an endless world of possibilities.
